Ocean Flower Island

Ocean Flower Island is an artificial island off the north coast of Danzhou in Hainan Province, comprising three separate landmasses totaling about 381 hectares. The development features parks, hotels, shopping centers, and entertainment facilities distributed across these different areas.

Construction began in 2010 as part of advancing coastal development methods in China. The project demonstrated new land reclamation techniques and how they were applied on a large scale.

The island's flower-shaped design gives it a distinctive look from above and serves as a symbol of modern coastal development. Visitors walking through notice how residential areas, shopping districts, and recreation zones blend together in the overall layout.

The site is large and divided into several distinct zones, so it helps to familiarize yourself with the layout before visiting. You can explore the different areas on foot, with opportunities to rest in parks or visit restaurants along the way.

Environmental concerns about coral reef damage led to modified construction plans and protective measures to safeguard marine life. The adjustments changed where and how certain parts were built to minimize impact on the surrounding ocean ecosystem.
