The China National Opera House contains multiple performance spaces including an opera hall, concert venue, and theater within a large dome structure.
The institution began operations in 1942 and relocated to Beijing in 1952, becoming the national opera company under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The company presents both Chinese and international operas, maintaining a symphony orchestra, choir, and departments for stagecraft, costumes, and scenery production.
The box office operates daily from 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM on performance days and until 6:00 PM on non-performance days for ticket purchases.
In 2001, the venue hosted the Three Tenors Concert in the Forbidden City, followed by a 2009 production of Turandot in the Bird's Nest stadium.
