Eichstätt district

The Eichstätt district spans 1,214 square kilometers across Upper Bavaria, containing 30 municipalities with the town of Eichstätt as its administrative center.

Established in 1862, the district underwent territorial changes in 1972 when it merged with portions of dissolved districts including Ingolstadt, Beilngries, and Riedenburg.

The district coat of arms displays a torch representing the industrial area, a crosier symbolizing the bishopric, and an antler referencing the medieval Hirschberg county.

With an unemployment rate of 1.2 percent, the district maintains strong economic structures through agriculture, local businesses, and connections to neighboring industrial centers.

Eighty percent of the district territory lies within natural park areas, offering extensive outdoor recreation spaces at an elevation of 475 meters.
