Lichtenberg

Lichtenberg is an eastern district of Berlin with residential areas, commercial streets, and railway stations that shape daily life for those who live here. The area combines older housing blocks with newer neighborhoods and is served by several transport hubs.

The area was settled during medieval times and later developed into an independent town before its merger into Berlin in the 20th century. This union transformed the local structure and sparked new planning and development.

The Dong Xuan Center shapes the neighborhood as a living hub for the Vietnamese community, where restaurants, shops, and businesses gather around a central plaza. Here people from different cultures meet, and Asian cuisine is woven into daily life.

The area is well connected by S-Bahn trains, making it easy to explore on foot and by public transport. Visitors will find varied neighborhoods, some quieter and others with more commercial activity.

A former secret police building now houses a museum that documents surveillance practices from the past and gives visitors insight into that dark period. The collection displays personal objects and equipment from that era.
