The mountain received its name from Louis Ramond de Carbonnières, a French politician and scientist who conducted geological studies in the Pyrenees region.
The name Ramougn reflects the local Gascon language pronunciation of Ramond, demonstrating the preservation of regional linguistic traditions in mountain nomenclature.
Access to Pic Ramougn involves following the normal route from Lake Aubert, passing through Barris breach before ascending the valley beneath Ramougn ridge.
The glacier that once existed at the base of Pic Ramougn has completely disappeared over the past thirty years, transforming into a mineral valley.
