Pirouettes du Vieux Moulin, Theme park attraction in Fantasyland, Disneyland Paris, France.
Pirouettes du Vieux Moulin was a spinning ride in Fantasyland that lifted eight wooden bucket-shaped gondolas several meters into the air on a rotating mechanical arm. Each cabin held four passengers and the entire ride cycle lasted about three minutes.
The ride opened in June 1993 as part of the original Fantasyland lineup. It closed in 2002 when the opening of Walt Disney Studios Park prompted the park to redirect its focus elsewhere.
The ride drew from The Old Mill, a classic cartoon that revolutionized animation with color and depth techniques. Visitors could sense this connection through the bucket design and the gentle rotating motion above the fantasy landscape.
The ride was easy to reach from the central plaza and offered good views over Fantasyland from above. Visitors should note that the buckets could become slippery depending on weather, especially after rain.
After closing, the wooden buckets remained in place for several years and were filled with presents during the Christmas season. These decorated gondolas became part of the park's holiday display until 2011.
