Mullaghcleevaun

Mullaghcleevaun is a mountain peak in the Wicklow Mountains with steep granite slopes and exposed rock faces. The landscape appears rough and barren in the upper reaches, where vegetation becomes sparse and the terrain turns rocky.

The name comes from a cradle-like depression near the summit, documented in early studies of Irish place names. This geological formation shaped how locals and travelers referred to the mountain.

The mountain holds the fifteenth position among Ireland's highest peaks according to the Arderin scale, attracting numerous hiking enthusiasts throughout the year.

Access to the summit is possible via hiking trails, with the main southern route starting from a small car park in the area. Visitors should wear sturdy footwear and waterproof clothing, as weather conditions can change quickly.

A small lake sits below the summit in a green hollow and ranks among the highest water bodies in the region. The water mirrors the sky and creates a calm contrast to the rough rocky terrain surrounding it.
