Gravale, Mountain summit in County Wicklow, Ireland.

Gravale is a 718 meter high mountain in the Wicklow range with a rounded summit covered in heather and granite rock formations. The peak rises prominently among surrounding hills, offering wide views across the mountain landscape.

The name comes from the Irish word Droibhéal, meaning difficult passage, reflecting the challenging terrain of the area. It appears on maps from the 18th century and has been recognized as a key landmark in the region since then.

Gravale holds a notable place among Ireland's mountain peaks and draws walkers and nature enthusiasts to its slopes. The summit serves as a landmark that connects visitors with the wider landscape of the Wicklow range.

The most direct route starts at Sally Gap and passes through Carrigvore, taking about one and a half hours of hiking. Bring proper hiking boots and weatherproof clothing, as conditions on the exposed summit can change quickly.

The mountain's composition includes granite with distinctive microcline crystals visible in the rock surface, evidence of its volcanic past. This geological feature makes it of interest to those curious about the ancient origins of the landscape.
