Province of Rieti

The Province of Rieti extends across 2,750 square kilometers of mountainous terrain, including the Monti della Duchessa, Monti Reatini, and Monti della Laga ranges.

Founded in 1927, the province encompasses the ancient Sabina region, where Romans and Sabines merged their communities following territorial conflicts in pre-Roman times.

The territory contains 73 municipalities with numerous medieval castles, Franciscan sanctuaries, and natural reserves distributed throughout the Sabine hills and valleys.

The provincial capital, Rieti, connects to Rome through the Strada Statale 4 highway, while railway lines provide transportation to Terni and L'Aquila.

Lake Salto, created during the 1930s, stands as the largest artificial water basin in the Lazio region, offering recreational activities and water resources.
