Tomba di Archimede, Archaeological site in Neapolis, Syracuse, Italy.
The monumental tomb structure features a triangular tympanum above the facade containing niches designated for storing cinerary urns of Roman citizens.
General Marcello commissioned this burial structure in the first century BC, though its traditional association with Archimedes dates from much later periods.
The necropolis walls contain numerous square niches with votive images made of terracotta, depicting deceased individuals as knights making ceremonial offerings.
Visitors can view the necropolis from the intersection of Avenue Teracati and Via Saverio Cavallari without entering the Archaeological Park.
Archaeological excavations revealed this structure to be a Roman columbarium built centuries after Archimedes' death, contrary to local traditional beliefs.
