Nara Prefecture, Prefecture of Japan in Kansai region

Located in central Kii Peninsula, Nara Prefecture spans 3,691 square kilometers and borders Kyoto Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture, Wakayama Prefecture, and Mie Prefecture.

The prefecture served as Japan's political center in 710 AD when Heijo became the first permanent capital, marking a shift from the previous mobile capital system.

The region maintains eight UNESCO World Heritage sites, including Todai-ji Temple, Saidai-ji Temple, and Kofuku-ji Temple, representing Japan's architectural and religious heritage.

The regional transportation network connects major sites through local trains and buses, with direct routes between Nara city and neighboring prefectures Osaka and Kyoto.

The area produces specialized items such as calligraphy brushes, tea whisks, and kakinoha-zushi, which consists of fish pressed between persimmon leaves.
