Tagawa-Ita Station, railway station in Tagawa, Fukuoka prefecture, Japan
Tagawa-Ita Station is a three-story steel railway station with classic retro design located in Tagawa, Fukuoka Prefecture. Built in 1990 and standing on an embankment, it features two ground-level platforms, a restaurant, and a small hotel inside the main building.
The station opened in 1895 as Ita Station and was originally part of the Hōshū Railway. Through railway mergers and commercial changes, it was renamed to Tagawa-Ita Station in 1982 and later became associated with a shopping store operator through naming rights.
The station has been named after a local shopping store since 2009, reflecting the importance of commerce in the town's daily life. It serves as a meeting point where residents and students pass through regularly, connecting everyday routines with the town's identity.
The station is easily accessible by train, bus, or car from nearby cities like Fukuoka and Kitakyushu and serves as a good starting point for exploring the town. Stairs provide access to the platforms, though wheelchair users may find some difficulty navigating between them.
A chocolate outlet near the station sells slightly broken chocolate pieces at reduced prices, with visitors limited to one bag per day and inventory changing regularly to keep repeat visitors engaged. It has become a memorable stop for many travelers passing through the area.
