Shinagawa-ku, Special ward in Tokyo, Japan

Shinagawa stretches across 22.84 square kilometers, encompassing major districts such as Gotanda, Osaki, Hatanodai, and Oimachi within the Tokyo metropolitan area.

The ward gained its current administrative structure on March 15, 1947, when the original Shinagawa Ward merged with Ebara Ward following post-war reforms.

Ten international embassies maintain their presence in this ward, including those of Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Belarus, contributing to its diplomatic character.

The central Shinagawa Station functions as a major transportation hub, connecting multiple railway lines and providing direct access to both Haneda and Narita airports.

The ward will serve as the Tokyo terminal for the future magnetic levitation train line to Nagoya, scheduled for completion in the late 2020s.
