Sindbad's Storybook Voyage, Dark ride at Tokyo DisneySea, Japan
Sindbad's Storybook Voyage is a boat ride in the Arabian Coast area of Tokyo DisneySea in Japan. Visitors glide through seven scenes showing different ports and landscapes, accompanied by automated figures portraying Sindbad and his tiger cub Chandu on their journey.
This attraction opened in September 2001 as part of the new Tokyo DisneySea theme park. It was the first Sindbad-themed ride in any Disney park worldwide.
The ride combines Middle Eastern folktales with Japanese storytelling techniques, featuring music composed by Alan Menken and performed in both Japanese and English.
The indoor ride lasts about ten minutes and moves through calm water channels with no steep drops or fast turns. Children of any height can board, but should remain seated in the boat during the ride.
The music was composed by Alan Menken, who also worked on several classic Disney animated films. The main song plays in both languages during the ride, creating a bilingual musical experience.
