StormRider, Motion simulator attraction in Port Discovery, Tokyo DisneySea, Japan
The motion simulator featured a meteorological aircraft design with synchronized movements, special effects including water sprays, and visual displays across multiple screens.
The simulator opened with Tokyo DisneySea in September 2001 and operated for nearly fifteen years before closure in May 2016. A new underwater ride later took over the theater building.
The Center for Weather Control narrative combined scientific research themes with entertainment through an immersive weather laboratory environment.
The ride lasted about fourteen minutes from start to finish with a preshow and the main flight experience. Each session took place in one of two identical theaters.
Visitors sat in a simulated weather control aircraft and followed Captain Davis through artificially created storms. Water sprays and moving seats reinforced the feeling of a real flight mission.
