Mondulkiri Province

Mondulkiri Province is an eastern region of Cambodia characterized by forested highlands, red earth hills, and rolling terrain. The landscape consists of elevated plateaus and valleys with substantial forest cover throughout the area.

The province was created in 1960 when eastern lands were separated to form a new administrative region. This division established a distinct territory with its own capital city and governance structure.

Indigenous communities have lived here for generations, maintaining their own languages, customs, and ways of daily life. Visitors can see this heritage in how people farm, build homes, and gather in village spaces.

The area is divided into five administrative districts connected by developing road networks. Travel conditions vary depending on the district and season, so planning ahead is advisable.
