Bobla Waterfall, Waterfall in Đà Lạt, Vietnam
Bobla Waterfall is a natural water cascade in Đà Lạt that flows over volcanic rock formations in several tiers. The water collects at the base of Da Ream stream in a natural pool surrounded by steep rock walls.
The waterfall got its name during the Cham dynasty when local people presented important elephant tusks to their leader as tribute. This practice shows the site's connection to the trade networks of that era.
The name comes from the Kho dialect, where 'Bo' means head and 'Bla' means tusk, showing the regional language traditions.
Access is through a steep stairway that leads to several viewing spots and needs sturdy footwear. The site is better visited early in the day when the light is better and crowds are smaller.
Concrete elephant statues stand at the base near a swimming area, connecting to the story behind the waterfall's name. These figures create an unusual contrast with the surrounding large tropical trees and rocky river formations.
