Pongour Waterfall, Natural waterfall in Duc Trong District, Vietnam.
Pongour Waterfall is a tiered natural waterfall in Duc Trong District, Lâm Đồng Province, southern Vietnam. Water spreads across a wide rock face and drops over seven staggered levels, forming shallow pools between each step.
The falls have long been a gathering point for the K'ho people and other communities of the Lâm Đồng highlands. The construction of the Da Nhim Dam in the late 20th century reduced the water flow that now reaches the site.
The K'ho people hold a traditional festival here each year around the Lunar New Year, gathering at the base of the falls for music and ceremony. Visitors who time their trip accordingly can watch these celebrations unfold in the open air beside the water.
Two paths lead down to the falls, one with wide steps and one steeper trail that drops into the valley floor. Water flow is strongest during and just after the rainy season, so that period generally offers the most rewarding visit.
The name Pongour comes from the K'ho language and roughly translates as "king of the waterfalls". This is not a modern promotional title but an old local name that reflects how the site has long been regarded in the region.
