Pongour Waterfall, Natural waterfall in Duc Trong District, Vietnam.
Pongour Waterfall is a natural formation in Duc Trong District with water flowing across multiple levels. The cascade drops through seven staggered tiers, creating a series of pools that form as water moves down the rock face.
The construction of the Da Nhim Dam in the late twentieth century altered the water flow reaching these falls. This dam project significantly changed the volume of water that moves down the cascade.
The K'ho people have deep ties to this location and gather here for traditional celebrations and local gatherings. The waterfalls hold meaning as a place where community customs connect with the natural landscape.
Visitors can reach the site using two different routes: a gentler path with steps or a steeper staircase descending into the valley. The best time to visit is during or just after the rainy season when water volume is highest.
The falls create a natural amphitheater-like structure where water flows across the entire rock surface simultaneously. This unusual formation allows water to descend in a broad sheet rather than as a single concentrated stream.
