Nachcharini, Archaeological cave site near Beirut, Lebanon.
The Nachcharini cave stands at an elevation of 2,100 meters on the Nachcharini Plateau within the Anti-Lebanon Mountains near the Lebanese-Syrian border.
Excavations at Nachcharini, initiated in 1972 by Bruce Schroeder from the University of Toronto, revealed stone tools dating between 8,500 BC and 7,700 BC.
The site contains evidence of Natufian and Khiamian hunter-gatherer occupations, with artifacts indicating a transition from nomadic to sedentary lifestyle patterns.
Access to the cave requires coordination with local authorities, as the site maintains restricted entry protocols to protect its archaeological integrity.
Microdrills discovered at the location show specific wear patterns and residue, indicating their use in stone bead perforation during the Khiamian period.
