Bayankhongor Province

This province spans central western Mongolia with distinct zones: mountains rise in the north, grasslands stretch across the middle, and desert landscape appears in the south. The landscape shifts noticeably as you travel through different parts of the region.

The province was established in 1941 under a different name and later received recognition in 1976 for its strong livestock and wool production. This award reflected the region's economic importance during that period.

Nomadic traditions remain visible in how people live and work across the region today. Herding families move with their livestock through the seasons, maintaining customs that have shaped life here for centuries.

Bus connections link the region to the capital city, and the local airport handles regular flights for faster travel. Newly paved roads have made getting around within the province more convenient than before.

Hundreds of mineral springs at Shargaljuut have been developed into a bathing and health resort. This spot draws visitors who come specifically to soak in the mineral-rich waters.
