Bayankhongor Province, Administrative province in central western Mongolia.
The province spans 115,977 square kilometers, featuring mountains in the north, steppes in the middle, and sections of the Gobi Desert in the south.
Established in 1941 as Govi-Bumbugur, the province received the Outstanding Red Award in 1976 for its exceptional livestock, meat, and wool production.
The region maintains strong ties to nomadic traditions, with Khalkh, Torguud, and Kharchin ethnic groups preserving their distinct customs and practices.
Daily bus services connect to Ulaanbaatar, while Bayankhongor Airport provides regular flights, and recently paved roads enhance travel within the province.
The province contains over 300 mineral springs at Shargaljuut, located 54 kilometers north of the capital, developed into a health resort complex.
