Al Buraimi Governorate

Al Buraimi is an administrative region in northern Oman located at the border with the United Arab Emirates. The region covers diverse landscapes including flatlands, palm groves, and traditional settlements distributed across a large territory.

The region has been an important settlement and trading hub since ancient times because of its strategic location and natural resources. In the 20th century, territorial claims led to disputes between different parties that were later resolved through agreements.

The local markets display traditional handcrafted goods and products that reflect daily community life. These spaces serve as gathering points where families and neighbors meet to shop and socialize together.

The region is accessible through multiple entry points from the United Arab Emirates, with bus services connecting major cities. Travel is most comfortable during cooler months when exploring is easier.

The oases in the region are fed by an ancient irrigation system called Falaj, which shows ingenious water management. This engineering approach demonstrates how people have lived and learned to manage water in dry climates over many centuries.
