Command and Staff College, Pakistan Army's brigade and division level staff officers training institution
The Command and Staff College is a military training institution in Quetta where Pakistani officers and those from more than 50 other countries receive advanced education. It includes classroom buildings in traditional style, a library with extensive collections, training facilities, residential areas for students, and recreational spaces such as shooting clubs, riding grounds, and a large park.
Founded in 1905 under Lord Kitchener's leadership, it relocated to its current Quetta location in 1907. The institution evolved from a British Indian facility into Pakistan's premier military leadership training center after independence, and has since trained generations of senior officers.
The college brings together officers from many countries who share experiences and learn from each other in a shared space. Its emblem and motto emphasize wisdom and knowledge, values that are reflected in how the place looks and how people carry themselves here.
The campus sits in a calm setting with views of snow-capped mountains, creating a peaceful environment suited to study. Since this is an active military facility, access to certain areas may be restricted, so it is wise to contact ahead if planning a visit.
The college sits at the entrance to Urak Valley surrounded by mountains, including one called the 'Sleeping Beauty' that resembles a woman lying down when covered in winter snow. Of the original British-era buildings, only a monument remains, serving as a reminder of the place's past.
