Quaid-i-Azam University, Public research university in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Quaid-i-Azam University is a public research institution located at the foot of the Margalla Hills in Islamabad. The grounds hold several faculty buildings, laboratories and administrative offices connected by pathways and tree-lined roads.
The institution opened in 1967 under the name University of Islamabad. Nine years later it was renamed to honor the founder of Pakistan.
The institution draws its name from Quaid-i-Azam, a title meaning "Great Leader" given to Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Students move across the grounds each day between lecture halls, libraries and open green spaces that connect the academic buildings.
Access to the grounds requires checking in at one of several entry gates. The Dr. Raziuddin Siddiqui Memorial Library sits in the central part of the campus and offers reading areas with digital resources.
The Department of Anthropology maintains an agreement with Ludwig Maximilian University Munich for academic exchange. This collaboration enables joint research projects between Pakistani and German scholars.
