Malir District is an administrative area in northern Karachi comprising six subdivisions: Airport, Bin Qasim, Gadap, Ibrahim Hydri, Murad Memon, and Shah Mureed. Each subdivision has distinct features that together form the broader structure of the district.
The district was created in 1996 following the reorganization of Karachi's administrative divisions. It was temporarily discontinued in 2000 but restored in 2011 as part of the city's restructured governance.
