Mecca Province

Mecca Province is an administrative territory in western Saudi Arabia that covers much of the Hejaz region. The landscape shifts between mountain ranges, desert sections, and a long stretch of coastline along the Red Sea.

This region served as a key junction for trade routes between the Mediterranean world and southern Arabia since ancient times. Over the centuries, it grew into a central area for Islamic faith and practice.

This territory takes its name from the city at its heart, which serves as the center of Islamic faith worldwide. During pilgrimage seasons, daily life shifts across many parts of the province as visitors arrive from every corner of the globe.

The province divides into several administrative districts that cover different landscapes and settlements. Jeddah acts as the main gateway to the region, offering airport and seaport connections.

Certain areas within the province allow access only to followers of Islam. This rule applies especially to the city sharing the same name at the center of the administrative territory.
