Gröna Lund, Amusement park on Djurgården island, Stockholm, Sweden.
Gröna Lund is an amusement park on Djurgården island in Stockholm, Sweden. The site occupies a narrow waterfront plot with rides and pathways layered across multiple levels.
The site began in 1883 as a small entertainment venue with gardens and a stage. Mechanical rides and roller coasters were added throughout the 20th century while the waterfront location remained unchanged.
The name comes from the Swedish words for green grove and refers to the original garden setting. Visitors today experience a mix of historic wooden carousels and modern rides along the waterfront promenade.
The tram from T-Centralen central station or bus 67 from Karlaplan reach Djurgården island directly. A ferry from Slussen terminal offers an alternative route across the water.
The Ikaros attraction drops riders 95 meters (311 feet) vertically and offers views across the harbor. The towers rise above the entire site and remain visible from many parts of the city.
