Vila Podrožnik, Government protocol villa at Večna pot, Ljubljana, Slovenia.
Vila Podrožnik is a residential villa built in 1910 at the foot of Rožnik hill in Ljubljana. The estate includes multiple buildings, a park, a swimming pool, and a tennis court spread across spacious grounds.
A porcelain merchant named Franc Kollmann commissioned architect Ciril Metod Koch to design the villa in 1910, replacing an older building on the site. After World War II, the property was nationalized and came into state ownership.
This house shows how wealthy merchants of the early 1900s designed their homes to display their success and refined taste. The carefully maintained grounds and rooms reflect the lifestyle choices of that era.
The property currently serves as a government residence and is not open to visitors. The villa can be viewed from outside along the surrounding paths, particularly well from the trails around Rožnik hill.
Kollmann originally planned to use the villa for charitable purposes, with half reserved for blind individuals and half for impoverished merchants. This ambitious philanthropic vision was never fully realized.
