Burç Bendi Dam, dam in Burç, Adıyaman district, Adıyaman Province
Burç Bendi Dam is a concrete hydroelectric power station on the Göksu River in Turkey, standing over 47 meters high and stretching approximately 152 meters across. The facility contains three vertical Kaplan turbines that convert water flow into electricity, producing around 27 megawatts of power for nearby communities.
Construction began in 2008 and was completed in 2010, creating modern energy infrastructure for the region. The structure is part of Turkey's effort to use rivers for electricity production and flood management.
Access to the dam is through a simple road running alongside the river, with safety restrictions in place that should be respected. There is no large visitor center, but you can observe the structure from an appropriate distance.
The facility stores around 26 million cubic meters of water in its reservoir, which also helps prevent floods during heavy rains by releasing water gradually. Visitors often notice the quiet hum of the turbines when operating, a sign of continuous power generation.
