Taichung County, Former administrative region in central Taiwan.
Taichung County was a former administrative region in central Taiwan that spread across the western coastal plain. The territory was shaped by rolling hills and farmland and was served by three major freeways and two railway lines connecting its districts.
The county was formed in 1945 following the dissolution of Taichū Prefecture, with Fengyuan designated as its capital after territorial changes in 1950. These administrative shifts shaped how the region functioned for decades afterward.
Educational institutions like Asia University and Providence University were important centers for learning in the area. These schools drew students from surrounding regions and shaped how the territory developed over decades.
The region had reliable transportation connections, offering visitors multiple ways to move between different areas. The infrastructure made it relatively straightforward to travel throughout the entire territory.
The territory was completely redrawn in 2010 when it merged with Taichung City to create a larger municipality. This consolidation transformed the administrative landscape of the entire central region overnight.
