Kê Gà Lighthouse, French colonial lighthouse in Xã Tân Thành, Vietnam
The cylindrical stone tower reaches 35 meters in height with a white and red striped exterior visible from ships in the South China Sea.
French engineers completed the construction of this maritime navigation aid in February 1897 to guide vessels through the dangerous waters near Kê Gà Cape.
Local fishermen pass down stories about the lighthouse, regarding it as a maritime guardian protecting their vessels during ocean voyages and fishing expeditions.
Visitors need to arrange boat transportation to reach the lighthouse island, with tours operating primarily between November and April during favorable weather conditions.
The structure sits on a rocky promontory shaped like a chicken's head, which inspired its Vietnamese name Kê Gà, meaning chicken lighthouse.
