Vĩnh Thạnh

Vĩnh Thạnh is a rural district in Cần Thơ located in the flat landscape of the Mekong Delta at low elevation. It comprises two central towns and nine communes spread across the region.

The district was officially established in May 2004 as a result of government administrative reform. This creation brought a new formal structure to what had been a developing rural area in the Mekong region.

The people here maintain farming and fishing traditions that have shaped life in the Mekong Delta for generations. Walking through the district, you see these practices woven into daily routines and the way communities organize their time.

The area is best explored on foot or by bicycle to move through villages and farmland at a comfortable pace. Local schools and community centers can serve as reference points when navigating the district.

The district supplies much of the agricultural output that feeds the broader Cần Thơ region. Its dispersed layout of communes and towns reflects a practical approach to serving scattered farming communities.
