The Chapel of the Ascension features an octagonal structure with stone walls, containing a central shrine that houses a sacred footprint marking.
The original Byzantine church from 384 underwent multiple reconstructions, including a Crusader renovation in the 12th century and conversion to a mosque in 1187.
The chapel maintains significance for both Christians and Muslims, with Christians considering it the location of Jesus' ascension and Muslims incorporating it into Islamic worship.
Visitors can access the chapel daily through a small entrance fee, with the site located at the highest point of the Mount of Olives.
The stone slab inside the chapel displays a right footprint believed to be Jesus' last earthly mark, while its matching left print resides in Al-Aqsa Mosque.
