Ulanqab

Ulanqab extends across 54,455 square kilometers of terrain at an elevation of 1,378 meters, containing eleven administrative divisions including districts, counties, and banners.

The administrative region transformed from Ulanqab League to its current prefecture-level city status on December 1, 2003, marking a shift in governmental organization.

The population of 1.7 million residents includes Han Chinese majority alongside Mongol, Manchu, and Hui communities, representing the regional demographic composition.

The transportation network connects through the Beijing-Baotou Railway and G6 Beijing-Lhasa Expressway, with the central Jining District serving as the main administrative hub.

The region experiences cold semi-arid conditions with annual precipitation of 340 millimeters, concentrated primarily during July and August months.
