Qinglan Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Wenchang, China.
Qinglan Bridge is a cable-stayed structure crossing Qinglan Bay with two distinctive A-shaped towers. The span extends around 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) and provides six vehicle lanes, pedestrian paths, and spaces for smaller vehicles.
The bridge was built in the early 2010s and opened in 2012 as a major crossing over the bay. The project was developed to support growing transportation needs in the region.
The bridge connects two towns and has transformed how people and goods move through this region. This created new opportunities for exchange and interaction between communities.
The bridge is well designed for vehicle traffic with a moderate speed limit to ensure safe crossing. Pedestrians and cyclists have their own dedicated routes alongside the main roadway.
The structure was engineered to withstand severe earthquakes and serves a critical role in supporting nearby space launch operations. This combination of structural resilience and strategic importance makes it more than a typical bridge.
