Hildburghausen

Hildburghausen is a rural district in southern Thuringia spanning several municipalities across rolling hills and forested valleys. The district encompasses small towns and villages connected through the surrounding landscape.

The area belonged to the County of Henneberg-Schleusingen until 1485, when it passed to the Wettin family. This transfer shaped the political and cultural direction of the region for centuries to come.
