Vansda National Park, National park in Navsari district, Gujarat, India
Vansda National Park is a protected forest area in Navsari district, Gujarat, that covers dense evergreen woodlands with tall teak trees. Between the canopy and the forest floor, bamboo thickets grow in clusters, and native plant species create several layers of greenery across the terrain.
Before becoming a protected area in nineteen seventy-nine, the forest served as a hunting ground for the Nawabs of Dang. Since then, the territory has received legal protection and is managed as a national park to preserve its natural habitats.
The surrounding communities include native Adivasi populations who maintain traditional connections to the forest lands and natural resources within the region.
Waghai railway station, about four kilometers away, offers the nearest access point, while Surat Airport provides another entry route. The forest paths are easiest to navigate during cooler months, when humidity drops and visibility through the trees improves.
The forest is home to leopards, hyenas, bison, and the four-horned antelope, a species that carries two pairs of horns instead of one. More than four hundred and fifty plant species and two hundred bird types inhabit the different layers of the woodland.
