Rupgadh Fort

Rupgadh Fort is a stone fortification built within the hills of Dang district and rises above the surrounding landscape. The structure features defensive walls and has various sections that once served different purposes like storage and military defense.

The fortification was built in 1721 during the Gaikwad clan rule and initially served as part of regional control. The location played a role in the area's political history before administrative power later shifted elsewhere.

The fort holds a Hanuman temple that shows how local residents have maintained their religious beliefs at this location over time. People still come to worship, which keeps the place meaningful in their daily lives.

Visitors can reach this place using two different routes: from the Kalibel area through a neighboring village or from the Songadh region, with vehicles possible on one route. The climb itself requires patience and good physical fitness, especially in hot weather.

The fortification preserves its original water storage systems, which show how inhabitants managed water in a mountainous area centuries ago. This infrastructure reveals practical knowledge about irrigation and storage in difficult geographic conditions.
