Brenta group, Mountain range in Trentino, Italy

The Brenta Group extends over 40 kilometers through northern Italy, featuring limestone peaks that reach heights of 3,173 meters at Cima Tosa point.

The exploration of these mountains began in 1864 when British mountaineer John Ball conducted the first scientific study of the range's geography and formations.

The name Brenta originates from local dialect word 'brent', describing water-carrying wooden buckets that reflect the mountain's geological formations and water features.

The range includes a network of marked trails and mountain shelters, with access points from Madonna di Campiglio and Molveno throughout summer months.

This mountain group stands as the only dolomitic formation located west of the Adige River, distinguished by horizontal rock stratification and natural spires.
