Asuka Historical Museum

The Asuka Historical Museum contains two main exhibition halls showcasing artifacts and materials from the 6th to 8th centuries within a traditional Japanese architectural design.

Founded in 1975, the museum preserves items excavated from Asuka, Fujiwara, and Heijō palaces, representing the foundation period of the Japanese state from 592 to 694.

The collections highlight excavated materials from ancient Buddhist temples, including Asuka-dera, Kawara-dera, and the Yamada-dera cloister built during the 7th century.

Access to the museum is available through multiple bus routes connecting with Kashiharajingū-mae Station, Asuka Station, and Nara Sakurai Station, with admission costing 350 yen.

The museum grounds feature reproductions of 7th-century stone fountains, including the Sekijinzo depicting embracing figures and the Shumisenseki near the entrance.
