尾ノ内渓谷

The Onouchi Valley features steep cliffs flanking a clear mountain stream, with a suspension bridge crossing between rocky walls.

The valley gained recognition during the Edo period when local residents started creating massive ice formations by directing water down the cliffs in winter.

The winter festival celebrates the formation of natural ice pillars, where local craftsmen manipulate water flow to create frozen structures reaching 30 meters.

Visitors can access the valley from January through February between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM, with an entrance fee of 200 yen for individuals over 12 years old.

The valley transforms into an ice wonderland with three distinct frozen waterfalls, known as one of the three great ice formations of the Chichibu region.
