Hakone Ekiden Museum

The Hakone Ekiden Museum displays uniforms, shoes, photographs, and memorabilia from Japan's university relay marathon competitions spanning over a century of athletic events.

The museum documents the evolution of the Hakone Ekiden race since its establishment in 1920, when universities first competed in this 217-kilometer relay marathon.

Through exhibits and digital presentations, the museum illustrates how the Hakone Ekiden shaped Japanese sports traditions and influenced university athletics across generations.

The museum opens from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM on weekdays and 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM on weekends, with guided tours available twice daily at 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM.

Visitors can experience a virtual relay simulation that replicates the physical demands faced by athletes during different segments of the Hakone Ekiden race.
