Raymond's Tomb, State Protected Monument in Hyderabad, India
The black granite tomb rises 7 meters high in a conical shape on a hillock near Asman Garh Palace, displaying the initials JR on its surface.
Michel Joachim Marie Raymond, a French general serving the Nizam of Hyderabad State in the late 18th century, rests within this granite monument.
Local residents maintained a tradition until 1940 of bringing incense and offerings to the tomb, treating it as a shrine of historical importance.
The monument spans 60 meters in length and 30 meters in width, with public access restored in 2003 following a renovation that cost 500,000 rupees.
The Nizams continued a ritual of sending cheroots and beer to the tomb every March 25th to honor the memory of Monsieur Raymond.
