The Simpsons Ride, Motion simulator ride at Universal Studios, Orlando, United States
This attraction is a motion simulator ride at Universal Studios in Orlando that takes guests into an animated story featuring the family from Springfield. The vehicles move in sync with images projected onto an IMAX dome screen, sending riders racing through Krustyland.
The experience opened in May 2008 in the space formerly occupied by a time travel adventure and brought the characters from Springfield directly into the park. Producers from the television series worked closely with designers to shape the storyline and jokes.
Every line spoken during the experience uses the original performers from the television show, so each character sounds exactly as they do on screen at home. Guests wait inside a recreated theme park owned by the family and watch clips from the series on overhead monitors.
Guests must be at least 40 inches (102 centimeters) tall to board, and children shorter than 48 inches (122 centimeters) need an adult with them. The experience moves quickly and jerks back and forth, so it is not suitable for all visitors.
The queue winds through recreated carnival games and passes beneath a giant head marking the entrance. Screens throughout the waiting area loop clips from the show, so time passes more quickly before boarding.
