Jaws, Universal Studios water ride in Orlando, United States.
Jaws was a boat ride at Universal Studios Florida where visitors traveled through artificial waterways and encountered mechanical sharks. The route passed through several scene sections with pyrotechnic effects and moving animal figures.
The attraction opened in 1990 after extended technical problems and was designed after the 1975 movie. The theme park closed the ride in 2012 to make room for a new section.
The main attraction in the park's Amity area recreated scenes from the movie that visitors still recognize today. Skippers accompanied the ride with stories about the fictional fishing village threatened by predators.
The facility was open during warm weather and visitors could expect light splashes. Wait times were longer on weekends and holiday periods than on regular days.
The boats were attached to a hidden rail that ran underwater and steered the ride. Flame effects rose from the water and produced heat that visitors could feel even from several feet away.
