Tournament of Kings, Medieval dinner show at Excalibur Hotel, Las Vegas, United States
Tournament of Kings is a dinner show featuring knights on horseback performing jousting matches and choreographed sword fights in a circular arena. The competition spans multiple fictional European kingdoms, each with their own warriors and storylines that develop throughout the evening.
The show first opened in 1990 under the title King Arthur's Tournament before undergoing major renovation in 1999. This update introduced new costumes, revised scripts, and the name change that created the version visitors see today.
Guests eat without utensils at long tables, mimicking how medieval banquets were actually conducted. This approach to dining becomes part of the show itself, making the meal feel like a genuine historical experience rather than just a meal with entertainment.
Shows run several evenings per week in a theater with approximately 900 seats, offering space for the interactive meal experience. Visitors in seats closer to the arena should expect occasional splashes and a more immersive encounter with the horses and action.
The production maintains a working herd of about 17 horses that require regular care and feeding throughout the week. The sheer volume of ingredients needed for both the horses and the guests makes this venue one of the largest buyers of a particular poultry product in the entire country.
