Tropicana Las Vegas, Entertainment resort on Las Vegas Strip, United States
Tropicana Las Vegas is a resort complex with multiple towers and a casino floor on the southern end of Las Vegas Boulevard in Nevada. The property sits on a large parcel at the intersection with Tropicana Avenue and brings together gaming areas, restaurants, and entertainment venues under one roof.
Ben Jaffe opened the property in 1957 with 300 rooms as one of the first large resorts on the southern Strip. New towers were added over the following decades as the surrounding intersection transformed from a dusty crossroads into one of the busiest corners in Las Vegas.
The Tropicana hosted the Folies Bergere show from 1959 to 2009, establishing the longest continuously running production in Las Vegas entertainment history.
The complex sits at a busy intersection in the middle of the southern Strip with direct access to pedestrian walkways and neighboring buildings. Visitors looking for gaming areas will find them on the ground level spread across several connected sections with different ceiling heights and lighting.
The parcel was among the last large undeveloped sites at a central Strip intersection, which fueled decades of speculation about future redevelopment. Its location makes the building visible from all four directions and a reference point for pedestrians walking along the boulevard.
