Studio 54, Nightclub at MGM Grand, Las Vegas, US.
Studio 54 was a nightclub inside the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, set across two levels with multiple bars and a large dance floor. The layout allowed guests to move between separate areas, each with its own feel, all under one roof.
The club opened in December 1997 and took its name from the famous New York disco that had defined the late 1970s nightlife scene. It closed in February 2012 after about 14 years as part of the MGM Grand's entertainment offering.
Studio 54 displayed photographs and memorabilia from the original New York club, creating a direct link to the disco era of the 1970s. Visitors could take in these pieces throughout the evening while moving between the two levels.
A wristband system offered free entry and drink specials during certain hours, so arriving early in the evening could work in your favor. With two levels to explore, it is worth taking time to move through the whole space rather than staying in one spot.
Elton John attended the opening night in 1997, which helped set the tone for the celebrity visits that followed in later years. That early connection to a major entertainer gave the club a profile that went beyond its location inside a casino hotel.
