New York-New York Hotel and Casino, Hotel and casino resort on Las Vegas Strip, US
New York-New York Hotel and Casino is a skyscraper complex in Las Vegas, Nevada, that replicates Manhattan at a reduced scale, featuring a tower structure reaching 161 meters (525 feet) with 45 floors. The exterior design shows several buildings that evoke famous New York landmarks, while interior spaces mimic streetscapes and storefronts from the East Coast city.
The building opened in January 1997 as a themed resort designed by Philip Birnbaum & Associates, focusing on a recreation of New York. Its completion came during a period when Las Vegas increasingly turned to family-friendly entertainment and immersive settings.
The resort stands at a well-known Strip intersection, displaying a condensed skyline of Manhattan that includes replicas of the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge at roughly one-third scale. This miniature cityscape lights up after dark, offering visitors a recognizable slice of the East Coast metropolis without leaving Nevada.
Visitors will find signs in English throughout the interior, including directions to restaurants, the casino, and elevators. The roller coaster that winds around the exterior facade operates during the day and evening, offering glimpses of the Strip and surrounding hotels.
The exterior roller coaster was originally designed with trains resembling yellow New York cabs before being replaced with a more modern design in later years. This ride performs a twist that briefly inverts passengers as they pass the cityscape replicas.
