Hlinsko is a municipality with town privileges located in Chrudim District, Czech Republic. The settlement comprises several localities including Blatno, Čertovina, Chlum, Kouty, and Srní situated at an elevation of 582 meters.
The settlement originated in the 12th century as a guard post on the trade route connecting Bohemia and Moravia. First written records of the place appear in 1349.
The Betlém quarter shows traditional folk architecture reflecting earlier building styles. Slavic carnival mask processions remain part of local custom and have been recognized by UNESCO since 2010.
The place is easily reached by train with rail connections to Pardubice. As an administrative center with expanded powers, it provides various services and facilities for both residents and visitors.
