Chancaybaños Reserved Zone, Natural reserve in Cajamarca Region, Peru.
The Chancaybaños Reserved Zone extends across 2,628 hectares of protected land, containing diverse ecological zones from cloud forests to high-altitude meadows.
The National Service of Protected Natural Areas established this conservation area in February 1996 through Supreme Decree 001-96-AG to safeguard regional ecosystems.
Local indigenous communities maintain traditional practices within the reserve boundaries, utilizing natural resources according to sustainable management principles established by SERNANP.
Visitors need to obtain permits from SERNANP offices before entering the reserve, which is accessible through designated routes in the Santa Cruz Province.
The reserve spans multiple elevation zones, creating distinct microclimates that support specialized plant and animal species found only in this part of Peru.
